The Pompano Beach CRA has announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the City Vista Apartments will take place on October 19th at 3:30pm. preceded by a Subcontractors InReach Meet and Greet starting at 2:30pm. The development will include 111 apartments and 3,800 square feet of ground floor commercial space. This development is the next step in the creation of The Pompano Beach Innovation District. This visionary innovation project, spearheaded by the CRA, began with the transformation of two deteriorating historic buildings into critically acclaimed venues; Ali Cultural Arts and Bailey Contemporary Arts.
“Building upon the hard work done by others throughout the years, we saw the incredible potential for this area,” said Kim Briesemeister, principal of Redevelopment Management Associates, who manages the Pompano Beach CRA. “And now, with this new development, the community will be able to experience the next phase of our plan.”
The RMA team has been working diligently over the years to reinvent this area, first with the creation of a thriving arts community and now with the addition of housing and retail.
Trend-setting cities around the globe are establishing Innovation Districts--- transforming forgotten areas into dynamic amalgams of corporate sophistication, startup edginess, walkable communities, trendy restaurants, hip housing and cultural clusters. While considered an emerging phenomenon, the paradigm is something Pompano Beach embraced years ago.
As part of the plan to redevelop the northwest section of city, RMA worked with city and community leaders to create a new vision for innovation featuring key elements including arts & culture, the makers’ movement, technology & business along with residential, commercial & retail all in one thriving area.
To ensure the best mix of partners, The Pompano CRA will be managing the commercial space at City Vista and plans to use it for co-working. Future development in the district will include 750,000 square feet of office space, 165,000 square feet of retail, 35,000 square feet of restaurants, 1,500 residential units, and two hotels with a combined 420 rooms.
